My Story

Hey, Hiren of Ascendant Strength here, I’ve been intrigued by strength since I was young.

When I was 13 I started doing knee pushups in my room, I was overweight and couldn’t do a SINGLE rep. When we were tested in PE class on how many pushups we could do I dreaded the class and walked away feeling embarassed.

Over a decade later I still remember this vividly. I started training in a gym when I was 16 and since then I’ve been obsessed with getting stronger and bigger as a drug free lifter.

I got my BSc degree in Mathematics and Physics but after graduating I knew that wasn’t where my true passion lied.

A year or so after I graduated I obtained my personal trainer cetification, I had been training people for years prior to this but it helps to make things official. I steered my career path in this direction, it was what made sense to me, I was always considering the nitty gritty of how to make better more efficient training progress.

Why “Ascendant” Strength? As a child I watched a lot of Dragonball Z.

This influenced me to value progression and never ending improvement especially when it came to strength, always wanting to “Ascend” to a higher level.

I’ll never ever be satisfied with where I’m at, but I am proud of how far I’ve come.  I’m always striving for improvement despite any setbacks that I encounter and trust me, I’ve had quite a few.

I get obsessed with something when it’s important to me. When I was younger I wish I’d have had better guidance towards my goals. This would’ve given me more time and mental energy to allocate to other areas of my life that I neglected somewhat due to my obsession with training, including social life and school/uni work.

Due to this lack of guidance I’ve acquired a considerable amount of expertise with a large variety of methods that I’ve used to help others towards their goals.

There’s a lot of conflicting information out there, much of it is put out with good intention however there are individuals who seek to profit from uninformed customers and will actively give out misleading information to try to extract money from people.

Fitness means something different to everyone but it’s extremely important due to the knock on effect that it will have to improve people lives. It enhances your self confidence, career and relationship quality. To take advantage of someone who is trying to improve their fitness and therefore their whole life is disgraceful.

By nature I’m a very analytical person and I enjoy utilising this ability of mine when creating training programs and coaching others.

Throughout the years I’ve experimented with countless programming methods on both myself and others. I’ve gained knowledge through experience and research as to the pros and cons of various approaches but I’m still always hungry to learn more.

I enjoy helping others progress in their quest for strength and a physique that they’re satisfied with, I hope you can glean something of value from my content.
